Mary Jeannette (Schultz) Christ, 94, of Metamora, IL, formerly of Washburn, IL passed away at 10:54 pm on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Snyder Village in Metamora. She was born on November 9, 1921 in Washburn, IL to Edward and Mabel (Peachey) Schultz. She married Maynard O. Christ on May 23, 1943 in Washburn, IL. He died on April 2, 1996. In 2004, she married Don Rogers who also preceded her in death. Surviving are her four children Ruth (Anthony) Campana of Conway, SC, Tracy (Claudia) Christ of Metamora, IL, Elaine (Steven) Tenhaeff of Springfield, OR, and Louise (David) Bettinghaus of Geneva, IL; fourteen grandchildren Claire Campana, Peter Campana, Courtenay (Christ) Noder, Devery (Christ) McCoy, Linden Christ, Meredith (Christ) Burroughs, Meghan (Christ) Bernardy, Dane Christ, Cassandra Christ, Zachary Tenhaeff, Wyatt Tenhaeff, Colleen (Tenhaeff) Glock, Katherine Bettinghaus, and Jacob Bettinghaus; and twelve great-grandchildren Dylan Noder, Aaron Noder, Collin Noder, Kameryn McCoy, Bronwynn McCoy, Aubrey McCoy, Hawkins McCoy, Claire Bernardy, Madeline Glock, Leander Glock, Liesel Tenhaeff, and Archer Tenhaeff with two more great-grandchildren expected in 2016. She was preceded in death by two sisters Laura Mae Dennis and Isabel Christ, and one infant brother. She graduated from Normal State Teachers College and taught in the Washburn area. Jeannette and Maynard farmed many years before establishing and operating the Snag Creek Golf Course in Washburn. Jeannette was a woman of God and an inspiration to all. She was a member of the Washburn Christian Church and various local organizations. She was active as a Sunday School teacher, Christian Women's Fellowship member and officer and active in other church functions and projects. Jeannette's memberships in community and town organizations included Washburn Woman's Club, Legion Auxiliary, W.C.T.U., Assistant Brownie and Girl Scout Groups, A.F.S. and Snag Creek Ladies Golf League. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Christian Union Church, Metamora with Pastor Gary Salm officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until service time at the church. Burial will be in Linn-Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Washburn.
