Mary Jane Muller, 89, of Washington, Illinois, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, at The Loft Rehabilitation & Nursing in Eureka, Illinois.
She was born on May 3, 1936, in Fondulac Township, Illinois, the daughter of Lawrence and Edna Poehlman Ropp. She married George G. Muller on January 7, 1956, in Washington. He passed away on April 2, 2020, in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and one infant great-grandson, Thomas McCracken.
Surviving are three children: Deb (John) Etheridge of Washington, Vicki (Bob) Heitzman of East Peoria, and Dave (Tina) Muller of Metamora. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren: Krystal (Matt) Jungmann, Scott (Lisa) Campbell, Mike (Paige) Heitzman, Kari (Ryan) McCracken, Matt (Jamie) Muller, Kristi Muller, and Travis (Katie) Doubet, and 17 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Norma Keil, of Missouri, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
She assisted her husband on the family farm, and by the late 1970s, she started selling real estate for several offices in Washington. She then shifted to selling insurance for Country Companies and later became an independent agent by opening her own agency, Mary Jane Muller Insurance, in the early 1980s. She continued working there until her retirement in 2018. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington and served on the church council for several years. She was a 4-H leader for several years.
Cremation Rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11 am Saturday, April 25, 2026, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington. Pastor Jen Beamsley will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 am until the time of her service. A private burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
