Mary Frances Gorrell

Mary Frances Gorrell, 85, of Germantown Hills, IL passed away at 4:05 pm on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. She was born on December 15, 1931 in McNairy County, Tennessee to Benjamin Hafford and Beatrice (Plunk) Cook. She married Robert E. Gorrell on October 22, 1954 in LowPoint, IL. They shared 62 years of love and respect for one another. He survives. Also surviving are daughter Kim Dillard of Peoria; son Steven (Renee) Gorrell of Metamora, grandchildren Walker and Wyatt Gorrell; and brothers Edwin (Judy) Cook of Maricopa, AZ and Bennett (Julie) Cook of Crossville, TN. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Mary was a member of Washington Church of Christ. She was a bank teller, housewife, and a tremendous grandmother, mother, and wife and a terrific example to those around her. Mary loved gardening and feeding the birds. She enjoyed watching her grandsons play basketball and critiquing her son's coaching. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel in Germantown Hills with Don Potts officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home and also one hour prior to her service on Friday. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Washington Church of Christ. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
