Mary M. Carlson, 83, of Chillicothe, IL passed away at 6:34 pm on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at her residence. She was born on August 30, 1933 in Peoria, IL to Herman and Bernadine (Lyttleton) Michael. She married Arne C. Carlson. He survives. Also surviving are her children Cathy Lynn Schultz of Chillicothe and David (Deb) Carlson of Council Bluffs, IA; three grandchildren Amy (Cody) Jackson of Sparland, IL, CJ (Melissa) of Boone, IA, and Kylene Carlson of Tulsa, OK; three great-granddaughters Presley and Hensley Jackson and Melody Carlson; brothers Robert Michael of Morton, Dominic (Bonnie) Michael of Abington, IL, and Patrick (Cheryl) Michael of Florida; sisters Carol Michael of Northfield, IL, Barbara (Jim) Iles of Brimfield, and Catherine (John) Bohntinsky of Willowbrook, IL; one niece; and several nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Scott "Scotty" Schultz, three brothers, and three sisters. Mary was a homemaker, who enjoyed nothing more than taking care of her family. She had a passion for cooking and baking, and will always be known for her famous fudge, pies, chocolate chip cookies, and homemade soups. She enjoyed gambling and playing cards, especially during the Holidays with her family. Mary had incredible pride for her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughters. With her witty personality, she could light up a room and bring a smile to anyone's face. She truly is, and will always be an amazing lady, who built an empire of love with her soulmate of 63 years, Arne. Private family services will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Metamora.
