Mary C. Burtsfield

Mary C. Burtsfield age 74 of Washburn, Illinois passed away at 10:09pm Saturday Jan. 12, 2013 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. She was born Dec. 7, 1938 in Peoria to Vernon F. and Catherine (Diskin) Deatherage. She married Raymond J. Burtsfield on April 2, 1955 in Peoria Heights and he survives. Surviving are her children, Jack (Suzanne) Burtsfield of Low Point, IL., Karen (Larry) Backes of Germantown Hills, IL., Janice (Charlie) Cosby of Minonk, IL., Cindy (Jim) Troyer of Lake Dallas, TX., her mother of Peoria, 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Mary is also survived by a sister Ruth Shurts of Glasford, IL., and a brother Gary (Lori) Deatherage of Mossville, IL. She was preceded in death by her father, one brother Robert Deatherage, one sister Sharon Casey, her daughter in law, Cheryl and a granddaughter, Jessica. Mary attended Woodruff High School, and was the head cashier for Foster & Gallagher from 1977-1998. She enjoyed camping, fishing, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, working crosswords and jigsaw puzzels and especially spending time with her family. A Celebration of Life will be Wednesday Jan. 16, 2013 from 6pm until 8pm at Metamora American Legion Post # 89 205 E. Partridge Metamora with Rev. Sue Sharum officiating.
