Mark Hoyer Jr

Mark F. Hoyer Jr., 87, of Washington passed away peacefully at 3:22am, Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria, IL. He was born on March 28, 1929 in Chicago the son of Mark F. and Olivia M. Hjortsvang Hoyer. He married Mary Ann Robinson on June 26, 1954 in Clarendon Hills, IL and she passed away on August 30, 1997. He later married Elaine C. Bondo on December 16, 2000 in Blair, NE. Surviving are his wife of Blair, N; two sons Jeff (Wanda) Hoyer of Gladstone, MO and Eric (Jan) Hoyer of Lee Summit, MO, three daughters Carolyn Crook of Elephant Butte, NM, Sherri Hoyer of Canton, IL and Vikki (Brad) Bittner of Poway, CA along with one stepdaughter Claire (Gary) Ford of Omaha, NE. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. One infant brother and one sister preceded him in death Mark served in the U.S. Navy as a Naval aviator being honorably discharged in 1951. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Co. as an engineer and working with dealers worldwide retiring in 1991 after 41 years. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington where he sang with the senior choir, and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Mark was also a former member of the Caterpillar Foreign Trade Golf League and the Washington area church-bowling league. A Funeral Service will be held 11am, Friday, August 12, 2016 at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor John N. Bates will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5pm until 7pm also at the funeral home. Burial will follow his funeral service at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be given to St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
