Marjorie "Marge" Ann Honeg, 87, of Washington IL, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on April 4, 2025.
She was born on March 18, 1938, to George and Ruth Anliker Martin in Eureka IL. She graduated from Eureka Township High School in 1956 and from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1959.
She is survived by her two children: Joanne (Rob) Bremer of St Louis, MO and Mark (Robin) Honeg of Irmo, SC. She was blessed with four grandchildren: Jacob and Natalie Bremer, St Louis, MO; Taylor (Jerrod) Ingram, Towanda, IL, and Hunter (David) Atkinson of Chicago, IL. She was also a great grandma to Savannah, Madison and Gracey Ingram. She is further survived by one sister, Mary Anderson of Scottsdale, AZ and a brother, Roger Martin of Peoria, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Melvin, Roland "Swifty" and Bill Martin; and two sisters, Verna Lott and Esther Hoffman. Marge worked 45 years as a compassionate and dedicated nurse at area family physician offices, including Dr Riley, Eureka; Dr Thomas, Peoria; and Dr Antony, Washington, where she retired in 2004. Marge loved to bake and continue the Martin family traditions, especially her coffee cake, cream pies, the coveted date oatmeal cookies, and according to her grandchildren the best sugar cookies. Marge enjoyed the outdoors and loved working in her yard and taking care of her plants and flowers. Marge loved watching sports and especially enjoyed her children's Illinois and Iowa rivalry.
Marge was an active member of Washington Presbyterian Church where she served multiple terms as a Deacon. She was a faithful servant, walking quietly beside family, friends, and patients to help them through their most difficult times.
