Obituary

WASHINGTON?Marion K. "Si" Sizemore, 77, of Washington, passed away at 6:37 a.m., Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Grand View Care Center in Peoria. Si was born on November 30, 1937 in Oblong, Illinois to Feral and Lela (Smith) Sizemore. He married Nancy Schulte on November 24, 1960 in Toluca. Nancy survives. Also surviving are son, Steven of Washington and his children Nick (Bri) Sizemore in the U. S. Marine Corps and Alex Sizemore; another son, Robert (Robin) of Goodfield and their daughter, Ashlyn; one brother, Paul (Anne) Sizemore of El Paso; two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gene. Si was a Physiology Teacher at Peoria Central High School prior to his retirement in 1993 and also had served as track coach. Si was a 1959 graduate of Eureka College and went on to earn his masters degree from Illinois State University in 1964. He also was known as an all around sportsman and conservationist and a member of Pheasant?s Forever. Si also had been active in Senior Olympics and a 50 year member of Taylor Lodge #98 AF& AM in Washington. Si was a longtime member of St. Mark?s Lutheran Church in Washington where he had served on church council, Sunday School Teacher and the church bowling team. Funeral services for Si will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark?s Lutheran Church with Pastor John Bates officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Mason-White Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to either the Wounded Warrior Project or Dax Locke Foundation for the benefit of St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
