Marion Louise Lewis

Marion Louise Lewis, 91, of Metamora, IL, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora.

She was born on September 10, 1935, in Dwight, IL, to John and Clara (Burkhart) Halterman. She was married 69 years to H. Kenwood "Ken" Lewis Jr. following a ceremony on June 22, 1957, at the Salem EUB church in Goodfarm Township, IL.

Marion was a life-long resident of Highland Park, IL, surviving are her husband, Ken of Metamora; children, Debbie Lewis of West Lafayette, IN, Brian Lewis of Anthem, AZ, Sarah (Mike) Lane of Metamora, Phil (Jenny) Lewis of Falmouth, MA, Michael (Angelique) Lewis of Anthem, AZ, and Michelle (Jerry) Gassie of Kenosha, WI; and many grandchildren, Mark and Amanda (Kaiser) Timberlake, Elizabeth (Timberlake) and Ian Frost; Samantha (Lane) and Tommy Daniels, Justin Lane and Azin Torabi, Melissa Lane; Andrew Lewis and Kaleb Lewis; Jordan Lewis, Tyler and Madalynn (McFadden) Orlando, Kaleigh Lewis, Gavin Lewis; Nathan Gassie, Danielle (Gassie) and Danny Bauer; and great-grandchildren, Genevieve Timberlake and Eli Timberlake and Winifred Frost. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, and one sister.

She earned her BA in Home Economics at North Central College and maintained her teaching certification while raising her six children, later teaching summer school Home Economics and working for over 20 years as a Teacher's Aide and support staff union president at Northwood Jr. High School in Highland Park, IL. She found great contentment in gardening and enjoyed baking, cooking, and getting her hair done.

She was 13 when she came to faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and a member of Crossroads Global Methodist Church in Washington, IL. One of her favorite scripture verses was Psalm 103:1-5 - "Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's."

Burial of Ashes will be in Goodfarm Cemetery in Goodfarm Township, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Transitions Hospice, 8914 North Prairie Pointe Road, Peoria, IL 61615 or to the Snyder Village Residents-In-Need Fund, 1200 East Partridge Street, Metamora, IL 61548.
