Marileen Jane Empey

WASHINGTON?Marileen J. "Mick" Empey, 84, formerly of Washington, passed away on September 3, 2011 at her son?s home in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on November 20, 1926 in Bentley, Illinois to Llewellyn V. and Ethel Blan McCallister. Among those surviving are two sons, Andrew (Jan) Empey of Canton and Charles (Joan) Empey of Lubbock; one brother, Robert (Nelda) McCallister of Washington; one sister, Kathleen Hartman of Cuba, IL; four grandchildren, Lisa, Lee, Andy, JR.,and Crissy and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Willy. Mick had worked as a meat cutter for many years at Thompson?s in Sunnyland. She had also worked for the Washington Courier and was a curtain maker at Sears in Peoria. She was a member of Beverly Manor Missionary Baptist Church in Beverly Manor. Mick enjoyed fishing, gardening and sewing, as well as time with her family. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Memory Gardens, south of Washington. Pastor Mike McCoskey will officiate. Mason-White Funeral Home is assisting the family in arrangements. Memorials may be made to Beverly Manor Missionary Baptist Church.
