Marie R. Mendl, 71 of Germantown Hills, formerly of Morton, Illinois and Phlox, Wisconsin passed from this life Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012. Marie was born on January 7, 1941 in Phlox, Wisconsin, the youngest of ten children to Joseph and Coletta (Menting) Heinzen. She married her soul mate Larry Mendl of Antigo, Wisconsin on August 24, 1963. Marie is survived by her husband, Larry, three daughters; Tina Mendl of Peoria, Michelle "Micki" (Troy) Bell of Germantown Hills and Linda (Raymond "Pete") Mendl-Kalb of Pekin, and five grandchildren; Tony, Danny and Heather Bell and Marissa and Christopher Kalb. She is also survived by two sisters; Jeanette Sippl and Helen Kuhr, three brothers; Gerald, Ben (Ellen), Donald (Audrey), and Sister-in-Law, Audrey (Clinton) Heinzen. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Joyce Gauthier and Dolores Krall, two brothers Richard and Clinton, two nephews and one niece. Marie attended St. Joseph Grade School in Phlox and Our Lady of the Holy Cross Girls Academy in Merril. She was working as a Nurses assistant at Antigo Hospital when she met, fell in love with and married her husband, Larry. Larry joined the U.S. Coast Guard and while they were stationed in St. Louis, MO. She attended John Hancock School of Business. Marie held a degree in Interior Design. She was very creative and talented individual who owned and operated the Olde Farm Gift Shop of Germantown Hills in the early 1980s and later partnered with her husband in L&M Woodworks until her death. In addition to crafting, she loved her cats and was passionate about spending time with her family; the traditional holiday marathon of games being some of her family?s most cherished memories. Marie will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am Friday Sept. 28, 2012 at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in rural Metamora with Father Neri Greskoviak officiating. Visitation will be from 4pm until 7pm Thursday at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7pm. Cremation Rites will be accorded after Mass.
