WASHINGTON?Marie M. Marsh, 87, of Washington, passed away at 7:42 a.m., Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Washington Christian Village. Marie was born on May 29, 1926 in Washington to Mahlon and Mabel (Schick) Blumenshine, Sr. She married Edgar Gabby Marsh on July 19, 1949 in Washington. They celebrated over 51 years of marriage prior to his passing on February 14, 2011. Among those surviving is one daughter, Pam (Rick) Everetts of Washington; two granddaughters, Janelle (Todd) Perry of Goodfield and Jill (Chad) Nelson of East Peoria; six great grandchildren, Anna, Andrew and Adam Perry and Ella, Grace and Bryce Nelson and two sisters, Mildred Wind and Margaret Pfeffinger, both of Washington and many loving nieces and nephews. Marie was also preceded in death by one brother, Mahlon Blumenshine, Jr. She had worked for A&P in Washington for 33 years then another 7 years at the A&P in Pekin. For A&P Marie had worked as a checker, managed the drug and candy departments and also ran the office for the supermarket on the weekends. Marie enjoyed the time with her family and the grandchildren and great grandchildren were the love of her life. Marie had been the recipient, along with Gabby, of the Washington "Good Neighbor Award." She also had been a member of Kennel Lake Spotsman?s Club. She also had been a lifelong member of Evangelical United Methodist Church in Washington, where she was active in the church choir, helped in the kitchen and had also served as church treasurer. Her family would like to thank the staff at Washington Christian Village for the care and love of Marie during her stay with them for the past three years. They were a blessing for their support. Funeral services for Marie will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Evangelical United Methodist Church with Pastor John Hauck officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Visitation for Marie will be at the church from 9 to 11 Saturday morning at the church. Mason-White Funeral Home is assisting the family in arrangements. With Marie?s love of cooking, memorials may be directed to the kitchen fund of Evangelical United Methodist Church.
