Marian Gertrude (Meyer) Voelker

Marian Gertrude Voelker, nee Meyer, 77, of Lowpoint, IL passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

Marian was born on August 3, 1945 in the old Saint Francis Hospital in Washington, MO.  She was the daughter of the late Herbert E. Meyer and his wife Ella R., nee Gerlemann, and stepdaughter of Lillian Pelster.  Her mother, Ella, passed away on October 30, 1955 when Marian was only 10 years old.  Her father remarried on June 20, 1959 to Lillian.

Marian received her primary education at New Haven, MO.  She then went on to Deaconess School of Nursing in Saint Louis to get her diploma in nursing.  She stayed and worked at Deaconess Hospital for 7 years before moving to Metamora, IL.  She worked at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL for 2 years and then 17 years of nightshift at Snyder Village Retirement Center in Metamora, IL.  Marian married John C. Voelker, known to many as "Jack", on June 4, 1974 at Christian Union Church in Metamora.  Her interests were embroidery, pets, gardening, and community service.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Ella Meyer, and stepmother, Lillian.

Marian's husband Jack, son Paul E. Voelker and wife Marsha, of Overland, KS, and a daughter, Rebecca (Becky) L. Saunders and husband Joshua, of Morton, IL, three grandsons Drake and Grant Saunders and Matthew Voelker, survive her.  She also leaves behind a sister, Marcella Thompson and husband Robert, a sister-in-law Marilynn Lamb, a sister-in-law Iris Kirchgessner and husband, Dennis (DK), a brother-in-law Jerry Voelker and wife Kathy, all of Illinois, brother-in-law Dennis Voelker and wife Lorraine, of North Carolina.  She additionally leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with Reverend Gary Salm officiating.  Visitation will be held 90 minutes prior to her service, also on Saturday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated to the Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care of Chillicothe, 1028 West Hillcrest Drive, Chillicothe, IL 61523, which provided her the upmost service of care and love during her last six months of life.
