PEORIA...Margaret A. Montgomery, 75, of Peoria, passed away at 11:57 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on August 11, 1936 in Galesburg to Theodore R. and Waneta Watters Conner. Among those surviving is one daughter, Carolyn Surrells of Peoria; four sons, David (Mary) Lee of Washington, Mark (Lori) Lee of Chicago, Paul (Janet) Lee of Fayetteville, NC and John (Laura) Lee of Clayton, MO; two sisters, Joanne (Robert) Rauch of Pleasanton, CA and Judy (Dick) Rodney of Murieta, CA; twelve grandchildren, Patricia (Larry) Barnes, Janet McBride, Susan (Mike) Jankovsky, Amanda Lee, Angela (Daniel) Sheets, Anna and Katie Lee, Cayce and Abigail Lee and Eric, Audrey and Jack Lee and six great grandchildren, Jessica and Alex Surrells, Susie Kness, Mya McBride and Elle and Cole Jankovsky. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Adam Lee and two sisters, Doris and Marilyn. Margaret retired from Caterpillar where she had worked for over 25 years as a materials handler and forklift operator. She was a member of the UAW and had attended the Second Baptist Church in Peoria. Margaret had a full and imaginative life, filled in the early years with music and in the later years truly enjoyed playing bingo. She had a beautiful voice and sang professionally in the Peoria area in the late 60?s and mid 70?s. She sang with Jim Estes and the Blue Echoes and appeared on local TV. She also performed karaoke up until just the last few years. Margaret had been a member of the Washington Country Music Club years ago. Funeral services for Margaret will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Dick Hanson officiating. Burial will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Second Baptist Church in Peoria.
