CHILLICOTHE-Margaret (Pegi) Isabelle Meyer of Chillicothe, Illinois died on June 24, 2016 at Unity Point Health Methodist-Peoria. She was born to the late Cleod (Bud) Davenport II and Juanita Dickey on July 2, 1945 in South Bend, Indiana. Her brother, Cleod (Butch) Davenport III, precedes her in death. In 1973, Pegi married Terry Meyer, and they had two children together: son Patrick (42) of Saint Charles, Illinois and daughter Tara (38) of Washington, Illinois. Though they later divorced, Pegi and Terry remained wonderful friends until her passing. Pegi spent the last 20 years of her life devoted to Earl Isenberg, with their beloved dog Maggie by their side. For 25 years, Pegi worked as the director of the student center at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. She considered the students of Bradley to be her own children, and cherished hearing from them about their post-college accomplishments. She was an avid bowler and Bradley basketball supporter. She grew up surrounded by exotic pets, and her love of animals never diminished; she worked at the Peoria Zoo for several years after retiring from Bradley and her grandchildren were fascinated that "Zoo Grandma" knew all of the animals personally. Pegi was filled with joy- she had an infectious laugh and always met you with a big smile. "Growing older is mandatory, but growing UP is optional!" was her favorite saying and the perfect reflection of her lively personality. Pegi is survived by her children, Patrick Meyer and Tara York; their spouses Megan (Meyer) and Jason (York); and three grandchildren (Dane and Finnegan Meyer, and Aubrey Grubb). Cremation rites have been accorded. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life party on Saturday, July 2, 2016 from 2-4 pm at the Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington, Illinois. Memorials may be given to family to assist with medical expenses. Notes of condolences may be sent using www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
