WASHINGTON?.Margaret M. Eilers, 93, of Washington, passed away at 3:07 p.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Washington Christian Village. Margaret was born on December 13, 1921 in Roanoke to Andrew and Mary (Wehrli) Bachman. She married Merle L. Eilers in Washington on July 25, 1941. Merle passed away on January 10, 2009 in Peoria. Among those surviving is one daughter, Mary Jo (Larry) Madden of Concord, North Carolina; two brothers, Tilman "Tim" (Doris) Bachman and Clarence "Joe" (Judy) Bachman both of Roanoke; two sisters, Verna "Brownie" (Fred) Schramm of Washington, Mary Ann (Edward) Oltman of Benson; four grandchildren, Adrienne Madden, Alisha Todd, Jenny (Chris Owen) Akins and C.J. (Lori) Akins; three great grandchildren, Ashton Todd and Conner and Cooper Akins and three sisters-in-law, Sylvia Micca of Eureka, Blanch Behrns of Loda and Marguerite Eilers of Washington. Margaret was also preceded in death by one daughter, Becky Akins, two brothers, two sisters and two infant brothers. In addition to making a home for Merle and their two daughters, Margaret also had worked at Celeste Dress Shop as a clerk and also did alterations. Margaret was a longtime member of St. Mark?s Lutheran Church in Washington and also was involved in the Friendship Mission of the church and Tazewell County Home Extension. Merle and Margaret also were members and enjoyed their time with the Avion Travel Cade Club. Funeral services for Margaret will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, December 20, 2014 at St. Mark?s Lutheran Church with Pastor Dick Hanson and Pastor John Bates officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens, south of Washington. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials for Margaret may be directed to St. Mark?s Lutheran Church or the Moehle Living Center.
