Marcelene R. "Marty" Bishop

Marcelene R. "Marty" Bishop, 82, of Bayview Gardens, IL passed away at 11:59 am on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Unity Point Health-Methodist in Peoria. She was born on June 10, 1934 in Peoria, IL to Albert and Dorothy (Closen) Cullen. She married Albert L. Bishop on November 13, 1952 in Peoria, IL. He survives. Also surviving are her children Marcia (Tony) Regnold of Spring Bay, IL, Douglas Bishop, Sr. of Peoria Heights, Janice Foster of East Peoria, Kevin Bishop, Sr. of Sioux City, IA, Albert "Scott" (Barbara) Bishop, Jr. and Amy (Jeff) Morrow both of Bayview Gardens; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister Sharon Monroe of Peoria; many nieces and nephews; and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by son Randy Bishop, three brothers, and one sister. Marty was a cook at the Dixie Manor in Peoria for 27 years and for many years at the Village Inn in Spring Bay. She played softball for Peoria Redwings, Diesel Lettes, and Producers Dairy. She enjoyed her flower gardening and planting all types of trees. She was an amazing cook, and everyone enjoyed her home-cooked meals - especially her homemade noodles. The door was always open and nobody ever left her house hungry. Marty never knew a stranger. She loved children and helping people. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Funeral Service will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel in Germantown Hills with Reverend Ken Harris officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Burial of ashes will be held in Spring Bay Cemetery, Spring Bay at a later date.
