Mandi Sluga

Malanda "Mandi" Sluga, 35, passed away unexpectedly at 8:01am Thursday, April 21, 2016 in the emergency room of OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on January 27, 1981 to Ted and Ruth Alt Bayard. She married Dean A. Sluga Jr. on October 8, 2005 in Washington. Surviving are her husband and their children Caleb, Brennen (Addi) and Abigail. Further surviving is her mother of Peoria, her father of Creve Coeur, one sister Jennifer Page of Fairfield, CA., one brother Rob Bayard of Washington and one honorary sister Jody Kemper of Pekin. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews cousins and many friends. Mandi was a foster mother and also a dance mom for her daughter's dance team. She was a very strong advocate for autism and the transgender community. Mandi had a heart of gold and would help anyone at anytime. Everyone who loved her will sorely miss her. At her request, cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11am Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington. Pastor Youngshim Pitcher will officiate. The family will receive friends following her service at the life center at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Her remains will be interred at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a fund for her children's education, established at Members Choice Credit Union, 3919 N. University St. Peoria, IL 61614.
