Lyle A. Kennell

Lyle A. Kennell, 86, of Benson, IL passed away at 9:23 pm on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Advocate Eureka Hospital in Eureka, IL. He was born on January 4, 1931 in Roanoke, IL to Arthur P. and Katie (Horsch) Kennell. He married Roberta R. Reber on May 8, 1953 at the farm in LowPoint, IL. Surviving are his wife Roberta of Eureka; children Arthur L. (Shirley) Kennell of Roanoke, Andrew L. Kennell of Wenona, IL, Arnold L. Kennell of Benson, Amy L. (Shane) Barnett of Hanna City, and Thomas A. Kennell of Eureka; grandchildren Rachel (Rich) Dickinson, Anna (Kevin) Peters, Joshua Kennell, Jason (Kaci) Kennell, Katelyn Barnett, and Maccrae Barnett; seven great-grandchildren; and brother Earl Kennell of Roanoke. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Lyle was a life-long farmer in the Roanoke and Benson areas. He was a member of the Roanoke Mennonite Church where he was a former Trustee and attended the Living Faith Bible Church in Eureka. He enjoyed his cows and pigs, mechanical work, tinkering with and fixing things. He loved to travel and visiting people. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Roanoke Mennonite Church with Pastors Bryan Miller, Brett Warner, and Dennis Kennell officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel in Metamora and also one hour prior to his service at the church. Burial will be in Roanoke Mennonite Cemetery in Roanoke. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Living Faith Bible Church Building Fund or Roanoke Mennonite Church.
