Lu-Ann Frederick

March 22, 1936 — January 26, 2025

Washington, IL

Lu-Ann Frederick, 88, of Washington, IL passed away at 11:24pm, on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Washington Senior Living.

She was born on March 22, 1936, in Oak Park, IL the daughter of Frank and Edna Beghtel Vlk. She married Loren Eugene "Gene" Jeter, Jr. on November 26, 1955. After his passing on November 19, 1969, she later married William "Bill" Frederick on September 4, 1982. Preceding her in death is Gene Jeter, Bill Frederick on December 22, 1998, and her son, Loren Frank Jeter on April 24, 1971.

Surviving her are her children Jerry (Dawna) Jeter of Highlands Ranch, CO, Karen Kern of Washington, and Timothy Jeter of Peoria along with four grandchildren Peyton Jeter, Truitt Jeter, Taylor Jeter, and Thayer Jeter. Also surviving are two step grandchildren Lori Forbear and Jennifer Drayer and five great-grandchildren along with one sister Carolyn (Steve) Hullcranz, her niece Heather (John) Jefford, and great-niece Mackenzie Howe of Washington.

She was a member of Crossroads Global Methodist Church in Washington, serving as a Stephen Minister for several years. She delighted in planning and attending the Walk to Emmaus. She served on the board until 2013. It was there that she met many of her close and wonderful friends who became her fellow "Book Babes" and game night partners for years to come.

Lu-Ann had a love for children and teaching, received her associate's degree in general education in 2001 and proceeded to teach pre-school in the area for many years before retiring and pursuing her love of travel. She and her sister, Carolyn, would make an annual trip to the beach, often driving cross-country and making pit stops to see the wonders of the heartland of America. She enjoyed international travel with friends and her grandchildren, going to places like Ireland, Aruba, and the Czech Republic. While seeing new places was an exciting pastime, Lu-Ann also appreciated the comforts of living in a small town, close to friends and family, and curling up with a good book and an extra crisp glass of white zinfandel (with an extra ice cube)!

The family wishes to thank all her friends and family members who came to visit her, keep her company, and share fond memories while in hospice. And a special note of gratitude to the team at Washington Senior Living and Traditions Health Hospice who worked tirelessly to make Lu-Ann comfortable and content during her final days. It was a comfort to know she was well taken care of.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00am on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor Bob DeBolt will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30am until her time of service also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
