Lowell E. Buttrum, 83, of East Peoria, IL, passed away at 10:37 pm on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at his residence.

He was born on December 6, 1942, in Perks, IL, to Walter E. and Mary (Price) Buttrum.

Surviving are his children, Brian (Darlene) Buttrum of Big Rock, TN, Daryl Buttrum of East Peoria, IL, and Duane Buttrum of Galesburg, IL; grandchildren, Darryl (Dana) Dunn, Nichole (Alec) Minton, Gregory Buttrum, and Jersey Harrison-Buttrum; great-grandchildren, Devin Dunn, Vincent Dunn, Madison Dunn, and Axel Minton; and sister, Barbara Morgan of Bowling Green, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lowell was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1964 – 1967 during the Vietnam War. After serving in the United States Army, he completed an apprenticeship and went on to work as a proud union electrician. When he retired, he returned to Pope County and fulfilled a lifelong passion, spending his days raising Black Angus cattle and tending to the farm he loved. He loved his family deeply and treasured every moment he could spend with them.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
