Louis N. Thomas, 82, formerly of Green Valley, IL died at 10:40am on Wednesday March 28, 2012 Snyder Village in Metamora He was born November 24, 1929 in Green Valley to Charles L. and Beulah Rogers Thomas. He married Betty Leamon in 1956. He later married Glennis Weaver Springer on July 12, 1974. Surviving is one son, David L. (Della) Thomas of Tucson, AZ. One grandson, Dylan (Amanda) Thomas, one great granddaughter, one step daughter, Sheril (Donald) Britton, six step grandchildren, twelve great step grandchildren, two great great step grandsons and one brother, John W. Thomas of Honolulu, Hawaii. One brother and four sisters preceded him in death. He served in the US Army in Japan and Korea in 1951 ? 1953 with the 2nd and 21st C.I.D. Louis was employed by Caterpillar Tractor, in the research department for thirty years. He was a former member of First Christian Church in Mason City, where he served as deacon and trustee. He attended Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria and Germantown Hills Baptist Church. He served as former mayor of Green Valley, IL for four years and was past president of the Tazewell County Mayor's Association. Services will be 11am Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home in Metamora with Rev. Robert Fields officiating. Visitation will be one-hour prior to his service. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Memorials may be made to Peoria Rescue Ministries, Peoria Christian Center or Germantown Hills Baptist Church.
