Lotus Kay Schopp

Lotus Kay Schopp, 84, of Washington, IL, formerly of East Peoria, IL passed away at 10:45 pm on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at her residence at Morningside Senior Living Community in Washington. She was born on August 1, 1932 in Morton, IL to Alpheus J. and Faun Star (Kollman) Swibold. Surviving are her two sons Michael (Shadahn) Schopp of Alexandria, LA and Stuart (Wilma) Schopp of Smithville, TX and her two brothers Richard (Gretchen) Swibold of Canton, CT and Jack (Barbara) Swibold of Pekin, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents. She attended Morton schools and Bradley University. She worked at CILCO in merchandise accounting for 8 A½ years. She last worked at the Order of St. Francis Mother House for retired nuns in Germantown Hills serving as a nursing assistant. After serving for 34 years, she retired to remodel her house. Lotus was a member of Faith Church in Washington and was a devoted "born again" Christian who had a true relationship with God before settling with Faith Church. Lotus loved to draw and sketch, dancing, fishing, camping, hiking, and boating. She also volunteered as an election judge. She was always smiling and loved to interact with people with her unique saying of "oodily-toodily". Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Faith Church in Washington with Reverend Rick Brisbin officiating. Burial of ashes will be held at a later date in Glendale Cemetery in Pekin, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or Faith Church.
