Lorraine Thelma (Petersen) Durst

Lorraine Thelma Durst, 81, of Cazenovia, IL, passed away at 10:52 am on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke in Roanoke, IL.

She was born on August 20, 1943, in Streator, IL, to Ford H. and Melba J. (Keedy) Petersen. She married Larry W. Durst on January 5, 1963. He passed away on February 8, 2008.

Surviving are her four children, Laurie (Jim) Strong of Bloomington, IL, Lance (Pam) Durst of Fort Myers, FL, Landon Durst and Lacey Hanrahan both of Cazenovia, IL; seven grandchildren, Larissa (Greg Fruin) Strong, Tyler (Hannah) Strong, Devin Durst, Ryan Durst, Carter Durst, Brielle Hanrahan, and Ronan Hanrahan; two great-grandchildren, Owen Strong and Henry Strong; and four siblings, Alice Glaub of Lacon, IL, Colleen Petersen of Sun City West, AZ, Paul (Diana) Petersen of Hudson, WI, and David (Diane) Petersen of Venice, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Marion Petersen, and two nephews.

Lorraine, along with her husband, Larry, owned and operated Durst Trucking Services, Inc. for over 20 years. She was a member of Christian Union Church in Metamora, IL. Lorraine loved traveling, reading books, cooking, and knitting. She was a 4-H Leader for the Trail Blazers with the Woodford County Chapter and a fan of the Metamora Redbirds. Lorraine was a loving mother and grandmother.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Christian Union Church with Pastor Gary Salm officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora.
