Lois Jean (Alig) Jenkins, 86, of Morton, IL, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion.
She was born on November 8, 1939 in Metamora, IL, the third daughter of the late Prosper and Francis (Meismer) Alig.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicky (Ron) Mahrt, Debbie (Michael) Champion, and Rose (Frank) Pirtle; grandchildren, Nichole Mahrt, Samantha (Preston) Kraushaar, Jacob Pirtle, and Adam Pirtle; and great-grandchildren, Tyler Casey, Anna Kraushaar, Gage Casey, Avery Kraushaar, Aubrey Kraushaar, and Aiden Pirtle. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Jackson and numerous much-loved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Jenkins, and her sisters, Ruth Appel of Mesa, AZ and Shirley Mensi of New Carlisle, OH.
Lois grew up in Metamora living on a farm. In February of 1958, Lois married the love of her life, Frank, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. Lois spent many of her younger years working at Metamora High School and later in Russellville, Arkansas where she touched the lives of many through her dedication and care.
Lois found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved attending church, spending time with family and friends, and playing bingo. She was especially fond of card games and could often be found enjoying her favorite game shows while working on word search puzzles. She was also a devoted Chicago Cubs fan.
Above all else, Lois deeply loved her family and friends she considered family. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the joy she brought to those around her. We welcome your prayers for our family.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until 10:15 am on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, IL with her funeral mass following at 10:30 am with Father Adam Cesarek officiating.
