WASHINGTON?Lloyd F. Opper, 85, formerly of Washington, passed away at 1:30 a.m., Monday, December 9, 2013 at his home in Tucson, Arizona. Lloyd was born on August 12, 1928 in Peoria to Frank and Marie (Wys) Opper. He married Dorothy Cook in Peoria on September 18, 1949. She passed away in Peoria on July 1, 1989. Lloyd later married Doris Clingensmith in Tucson on February 7, 1997. Doris survives. Also surviving are two sons, David (Mary) Opper of Baytown Texas and Douglas Opper of Washington; one brother, Loren (Karon) Opper of Bartonville; one granddaughter, Emily (David Ghidina) Opper; one great granddaughter, Mya Ghidina; three step children, Vaughn (Marlene) Elgass, Steve Bastedo and Latrice (Tim) Kilpatrick all of Arizona and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lloyd was also preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Opper; two sisters, Lorraine Sepich and Joyce Conway and a nephew, Jim Sepich. He had retired from Caterpillar in 1983 where he had worked in data processing for more than 30 years. Prior to working for Caterpillar Lloyd served in the United States Marine Corps from 1946-1948. He was also a 1946 graduate of Woodruff High School. Lloyd was an avid golfer, bowler and bicyclist. He was a member of the Washington Christian Church where he had served on the church board for many years as treasurer. Funeral services for Lloyd will be on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Washington Christian Church with Pastor Jeff Browning officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home and also a half hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Memorials for Lloyd may be made to the church or Parkinson's Foundation.
