Lisa Marie Depauw

Lisa Marie (Fournier) DePauw, 59, of Germantown Hills, IL passed away at 8:07 pm on Friday, February 2, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. She was born on May 14, 1958 in Minneapolis, MN to Richard G. and Dolores A. (Tigue) Fournier. She married Douglas R. DePauw on May 30, 1993 in St. Paul, MN.

Surviving are her husband Doug of Germantown Hills; daughters Josie DePauw and Nicki DePauw both at home; her parents Dolores and James Fraki; sisters Debbie Fournier, Renee (Billy) Rodewald, Missy (Jon) Rhodes, and Sheila Freeman; sister-in-law Mary Jo (Jay) Rowley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Grandma Tigue, mother-in-law and father-in-law Bob and Vicki DePauw, and brother-in-law Greg DePauw.

Lisa graduated from Coon Rapids High School and went on to complete her BA in English from Moorhead State University. She then earned a Masters of Art in Literature at Hamline University in St. Paul while working full-time as a new mother. She was a Sr. Technical Editor at FMC/United Defense in Minneapolis for nineteen years and then moved to Illinois in 2001 where she has since taught at St. Thomas Catholic School in Peoria Heights. The St. Thomas School faculty page quote for Lisa was from Mother Teresa – "Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love." Lisa always greeted people with a smile. She loved to laugh, and everyone loved to laugh along with her.

Spending time with her family and friends is what she treasured most. She also enjoyed reading, music, singing, teaching, coaching speech, theater, dancing, movies, and baking. Lisa was a 20-year breast cancer survivor and felt immensely blessed to have been able to watch her daughters grow into the wonderful women they have become. Lisa will be greatly missed by her family and friends, as well as the Central Illinois Catholic Faith Community, Metamora Area Community, and the Peoria Arts Community.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights with Father Tom Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at St. Thomas. A luncheon will follow the Mass with a graveside service to be held later that day at 2:00 pm at St. Mary's Cemetery in Metamora.
