WASHINGTON?Linden J. Hockenbury, Sr., 66, of Washington, passed away Friday, November 28, 2014 at his home. Linden was born on June 14, 1948 in Washington to Marion and Orva (Blumenshine) Hockenbury. Also surviving are the mother of his child, Sue Hockenbury; a son, Linden (Marie Lakin) Hockenbury, Jr. of Washington; three step-daughters, Dawn (Paul) Mauschbaugh and Aundrea (Doug) Kinas, of Washington and Tiffany Beschorner of Peoria; two brothers, Eugene (Emmy) Hockenbury of Utah and William (Pat) Hockenbury of Wyoming, IL., his grandchildren, Claire, Kate, Max, Allyson, Bryan, Jaxson and Isaac. Linden?s parents and a sister, Marilyn, were killed in an accident in Peoria in 1957. Following the accident he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Eugene (Red) and Betty Blumenshine. Also surviving are his siblings from growing up with the Blumenshine?s, Lou Ann Matthews, Kathy Deatheridge and Beth Horton. Linden was also preceded in death by one brother David and a sister, Erma. He was a member of IBEW Local # 51 and had worked for GTE and later Verizon in maintenance as a cable splicer. Linden also had been a member of the Washington Police Auxillary, Fire Department and EMT. He was a member of Taylor Lodge #98 AF&AM in Washington. Funeral services for Linden will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home with Pastor Dick Hanson officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following visitation. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery. There will be a special celebration service for Linden on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Vietnam Veterans of Illinois (The Bunker) in Sunnyland. Memorials for Linden may be directed to Washington Fire & Rescue.
