Linda Kennedy

Linda Kennedy, 75, was called home to the Lord on April 3, 2025. She passed peacefully in her home surrounded by family.

She entered this world on July 25, 1949 in Muncie, IN, born to Edward and Eileen (Montgomery) Johnson. Linda married Robert Kennedy on December 17th, 1966 in Muncie, Indiana. She was preceded in passing by her parents, sister in-law Joyce Brower, and nephew Michael Johnson.

She is survived by her husband Robert Kennedy; daughter Lisa (Bill) Shelander; son Jefferson Kennedy; one granddaughter Alison (Nick) Sturgis; great grandchildren Aidan Sturgis, Abel Sturgis, Jasmine Sturgis; brothers Ron Johnson; Dan (Shirley) Johnson; also surviving are several nieces and nephews; Mark (LeaAnne) Johnson; Lou Anne Johnson; Steve (Susan) Hines; Robin (Rob) Belt, and many great nieces and nephews.

Linda discovered a passion for barbering, leading to her opening Westside Barber shop in Morton,IL which she ran for 25 years before retiring in 2006. During the time of running her business, many great and lasting relationships were made, as well as a vast catalog of jokes learned which she loved retelling with friends and family.

Linda took great pride in her gardens, growing and nurturing a variety of beautiful flowers and plants, though she especially loved her roses. Linda was also a force of nature in the kitchen, crafting and creating the most wonderful meals and desserts that rivaled a Michelin Star standard. She adored animals of all kinds and was never without a pet.

She took up sewing at a young age and that passion continued her whole life. Her family and friends loved her creations, especially the clothing and coats that she made for everyone. Linda was know and loved for her spunk, determination, and her kind and loving nature. Her life was an exciting adventure that made all that knew her feel grateful and blessed to be a part of it. She devoted her life to her family and will be deeply missed.

She also loved attending her church, which felt like a second home to her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 200 Cole St. East Peoria, IL 61611.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be at 4 pm Monday, April 14, 2025, at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. A service will follow at 5 pm.
