Obituary

LeRoy Alvin miller, passed away on October 10, 2026, at the Marigold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois.

Roy was born on December 8, 1932, to Walter and Dorothy Hondrick Miller. He married Joanie Lowman on June 24, 1962. She passed away on October 6, 2017.

Roy was an avid patriot and served his country for nine years as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War. Excelling in most endeavors, he had a career at Caterpillar that provided opportunities otherwise unavailable. He drove the largest heavy equipment, ensuring parked positions were the exact same distance from one to the next. Lined up with perfection, as was his practice and attitude with everything he did.

Roy was a busy man and found speed walking to be his mode of relaxation and exercise, and he looked forward to those walks daily.

Having lived to the age of 93, his energy and physical appearance belied his chronological age. As a follower of Christ, Roy’s favorite pastime was reading the Bible. As his eyes no longer focused well, his special friend Angela Tummins read his Bible to him as she was his faithful visitor and caregiver.

Roy was a kind, compassionate, and generous man who will be missed greatly by those who loved him, although many rejoiced as he entered his reward and heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Per Roy’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his church, New Abington Church in Abington, Illinois.
