WASHINGTON...Leo E. Beavers, 86, of Washington, passed away at 8:30 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka. Leo was born on December 23, 1925 in Hurst, Illinois to Andy and Ruth Ann (King) Beavers. He married Betty Moore in Benton, Illinois on August 27, 1944. Betty passed away in December of 1991. Among those surviving are two sons, Terry (Carol) Beavers and Bruce (Pam Stevenson) Beavers, all of Washington; one daughter, Janice (widow of Donald) Schubert of Pekin; his lifelong friend, Virginia Clayton; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Leo was a World War II veteran, having served in the 113th Calvary of the U.S. Army. He has kept up his ties with 113th Calvary of the U.S. Army National Guard long after his discharge from the military. He was retired from Caterpillar where he had worked for 34 years, his last position at retirement was a foreman in the maintenance department in Mossville. Leo also was a member of the Early V-8 Ford Club out of Peoria. Funeral services for Leo will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington at 6 p.m. with Pastor Don Russell officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home 2 hours prior to the service. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Zeigler Cemetery in Zeigler, Illinois with Pastor Matt Frizzell officiating. Additional visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Zeigler. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor?s.
