Laura Eleanor Irwin

Laura (Eleanor) Irwin age 93 of Germantown Hills, Illinois passed away at 9:45am Saturday Oct. 15, 2011 at her residence. She was born May 20, 1918 in Oglesby, Illinois to John and Laura (Gaull) Johnson. She married John W. Irwin on Nov. 23, 1938 in Oglesby, Illinois, he passed away in 1996. Surviving is one son William D. (Norma) Irwin of Germantown Hills, IL, 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and several step grand and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 sons John, Robert, and Dennis Irwin, a daughter Janice Killion and grandchildren Diane and Greg Irwin. Eleanor was a volunteer at Mennonite Heritage Center in Metamora, and was involved with the Girl Scouts for 30 years. She taught Sunday school for over 50 years and was member of Cazenovia Mennonite Church. A Memorial service will be at 11:00am Saturday Oct. 22, 2011 at Cazenovia Mennonite Church with Dennis Kennell officiating. Visitation will be from 5pm until 7pm Friday at the Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. Graveside services will be at 9:30am Saturday at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials may be made to Cazenovia Mennonite Church building fund and Hospice Compassus.
