Larry P. Herring

Larry P. Herring, 71, of East Peoria, IL passed away at 12:55 pm on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at his residence.

He was born on February 24, 1955, in Lamesa, TX to Aubrey and Martha (Swafford) Herring. He married Carolyn S. Gotwalt on December 31, 1992, in Peoria, IL.

Surviving are his wife, Carolyn of East Peoria; son, Robert (Laura) Bermes of Metamora, IL; daughter, Lisa Bermes Shaw of Mapleton, IL; granddaughter, Kaylee (Chase) Shaw Martin of Pekin, IL; and brother, Aubrey (Marva) Herring of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Brenda Herring.

Larry was a heavy equipment operator for Peoria Local #649. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather who loved gardening, collecting sports cards, and cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He adored German Shepherds and spent much of his day playing with Cooper, his 9-year-old dog. He also greatly enjoyed spoiling his granddaughter Kaylee and spending time with family.
