PEORIA?Larry A. Lawrence, 79, of Peoria Heights, passed away at 11:34 p.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Larry was born on December 21, 1934 in Newton, Iowa to Verle and Ora (Bauer) Lawrence. He married Patsy Roth in Canton in 1956. She preceded him in death. He later married Maureen (Romont) Webster in Peoria on June 13, 1992. She survives. Also surviving is his son, Steve (Michele) Lawrence of Peoria Heights; a step-daughter, Anne Webster of Chillicothe: a step-son Michael Webster of Los Angeles; one sister, Donna (Bob) Howey of California; one brother, Tom (Susan) Lawrence of Missouri and three grandsons, Nicholas, Zachary and Matthew Lawrence. He was also preceded in death by one step-son, James Webster who died in 2003. Larry was a veteran having served in the U. S. Army for two years. After high school he then attended University of Southern California. For many years Larry had been in sales for Heritage Spring in Bloomington, but he was most proud of his ten years as a tour guide on Maui for Ekahi Tours. Larry had been a member of Peoria Elks Lodge #20 for more than 51 years. During that time he had served as Exalted Ruler and District Deputy. He also loved to bowl when he had the opportunity. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff at 5100 OSF and Cornerstone Nursing Home for their kindness and care during Larry?s final months. He was a member of Mt. Hawley Community Church in Peoria where funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Klotz officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded following services Saturday and Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family. Memorials for Larry may be directed to his church.
