Lambert Lawrence
"Bert" Nauman
September 5, 1928 – November 4, 2016
Lambert Lawrence Nauman, 88, of Metamora, IL passed away early Friday morning, November 4, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria with his wife by his side. He was born on September 5, 1928 in Worth Township, Woodford County to Leonard and Margaretha (Noel) Nauman. He married Joyce Joan Lumpp on November 24, 1951 at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, Metamora. Joyce survives and will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary in spirit this year on Thanksgiving Day. Also surviving are his daughter Deborah (the late Michael) Flickinger of Houston Texas; his son Douglas (Leigh Mattinson) Nauman of Cedar Park, Texas; grandchildren James William Flickinger, Kathryn Nauman, and Laura Nauman; and brother, Anthony Nauman of Metamora. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Gilbert Alig, Richard Nauman and Clifford Nauman, and two sisters Hildegard Grebner and Ludwina Schierer. After graduating from Metamora Township High School in 1946, he was inducted into the U.S. Army on March 14, 1951 during the Korean Conflict, transferred to the Ready Reserve on February 28, 1953, and was honorably discharged on November 23, 1956. Lambert farmed alongside his father and brothers, then pursued a career in the construction business with his brother Richard. "Bert" worked 27 years at Caterpillar's Mossville Plant as a machinist where he enjoyed assisting with the implementation of robotic technology shortly before his retirement in 1993. Being a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, he cherished frequent trips to Texas, passing along his life lessons to his three grandchildren. His passion for gardening was never lost, as long as there was time for hunting and fishing with friends. He would lend a hand at harvest. He never missed deer season or a Bears football game and saw the Cubs all the way to their World Series victory. He was a member of the American Legion Post 89, St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. A Funeral Mass will be held on Veteran's Day, Friday, November 11, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Metamora with Father Gregory Jozefiak officiating.
