Ladonna Bobbitt

November 30, 1939 — August 7, 2024

Peoria, IL

LaDonna Bobbitt, 84, of Peoria, IL, passed away at 2:45 am on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at her residence with her family by her side.

She was born on November 30, 1939, in Mayfield, KY, the daughter of Chester and Metomah Rohrer Saxon. She married Charles A. Bobbitt in Marion, AR, on September 30, 1977.

Surviving are her husband and children, Karen (Michael) Haven, of Brownsburg, IN, Angie Bobbitt, of Bartlett, and Phil Bobbitt, of Bartlett, TN. She also has six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: one brother, Roger (Kathy) Saxon, of Syracuse, IN, and one sister, Marlene (Ed) Johnson, of Mayfield, KY surviving.

LaDonna's zest for life was evident in her eclectic hobbies, which included an impressive collection of clothing and frequent treasure hunts at Big Lots, where she found joy in the simplest of finds.

Her profound love for Peoria's history led her to author two acclaimed books that captured the essence of the city's past and made her a respected figure among local historians. LaDonna's life was often accompanied by the melodies of her favorite song, "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," a tune that encapsulated her spirit of resilience and grace.

LaDonna's legacy is one of inspiration, creativity, and a deep-seated love for the community that she so beautifully documented. Her memory will live on in the restored walls of the homes she brought back to life and the pages of history she lovingly preserved.
