Kristine Kay (Reed) Nelson

Kristine K. Nelson, 73, of Glasford, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, in Pekin. A Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Mt. Hawley Community Church in Peoria, where she was a member. There will be a luncheon to follow. Kristine was born on October 30, 1948, in Macomb, the daughter of Ralph and Mary (Ingalls) Reed. They preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Greta Creasy, Marilyn Hopper, Joann Dean, Sheryl Lite, Ralph "Bud" Reed and Jack Hodges. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Nelson of Peoria and Kimberly Nelson of Peoria Heights; grandchildren, Adam, Molly and Noah Nelson; great grandchildren, Mason Hodges, Jackson Nelson and Kolsen Huson; brother, Glenn "Mickey" (Jenny) Reed; and her beloved dog, Charlie. Kristine retired from EP!C as a caregiver. She worked there for 20 years. Prior to that, she was a cosmetologist for many years. Her favorite hobbies included Harleys, playing shuffleboard and shopping. She especially loved garage sales and thrift stores. She collected cookbooks, recipes, teapots and dolls. She especially loved sloths. Spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids gave her the most enjoyment in her life. Her family described her as kind, funny, witty, outgoing and strong. She never knew a stranger. She was a wonderful mom, grandma and great grandma. She will be very missed. Memorial contributions may be made in Kristine's memory to EP!C in Peoria.
