Kristina M. Huber, 85, of Washington, IL, passed away at 6:25 pm Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Snyder Village in Metamora, IL.
She was born on March 7, 1939, in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Gustaf and Ann Scheib Ostrom. She married James Huber on November 14, 1959, in Abbottsville, PA. He passed away on May 19, 2023. One daughter, Karen Mellody, one sister, and two brothers preceded her in death.
Kristina's legacy lives on through her loving family. She is survived by her two sons, Brian (Melinda) Huber of Germantown Hills, IL, and Peter (Kristine) Huber of Freeport, IL. Her role as a grandmother to five grandsons, Collin, Jared, Matthew, Timothy, and Andrew, and four great grandchildren, was a source of immense joy and pride for her. She also leaves behind her sister Anne Vadino of Whitehouse Station, NJ.
Kristina was a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), last working at Washington Christian Village.
Kristina's passion for nurturing extended beyond her profession into her role as a Cub Scout den mother and a Girl Scout leader. She guided young minds with patience and a spirit of adventure, instilling values and skills that would last a lifetime. Her love for the natural world was evident in her pastime of bird watching, a hobby that brought her immense joy and tranquility. She found solace in the beauty of nature and was an active member of the International Crane Foundation, contributing to the preservation of these majestic birds.
A member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington, Kristina's faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her involvement in church activities reflected her belief in service and community. Her gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who know her.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11 am on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service at the church. Burial will follow her service at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
