Kevin M. Alig, 61, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 11:50 pm on Monday, December 22, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle of cancer, battling cancer twice.
He was born on January 17, 1964, in Peoria, IL, to Theodore M. “Ted” and Marilyn C. (Grebner) Alig. He married Tonya R. Driscoll on September 12, 1986 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora.
Surviving are his wife, Tonya of Metamora; daughters, Jessica (John Brian) Alig of Chillicothe, IL, Danielle (Shawn) Johnson of Bloomington, IL, and Katelyn (Kyle) Morr of Washington, IL; grandchildren, Zeke and Zander Johnson and Walter, Hudson, and Charlotte Morr; brother, Greg (Tammy) Alig of Metamora; sister, Melissa (Tony) Todaro of Bloomington, IL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother James Alig.
Kevin was an engineer working for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 39 years, retiring in December, 2025. He loved watching his daughters play softball and was an avid Metamora High School football fan. Kevin enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, golfing, and growing pumpkins in his garden. You could often find him tinkering in his woodshop. His favorite sports teams were the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Kevin was a volunteer firefighter in Metamora for over 26 years, retiring in 2018. Most of all Kevin enjoyed being grandpa “Pop” and thought it was the most amazing thing ever.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with Pastor Tom Cox officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until service time, also at the funeral home. Burial of Ashes will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery at a later date.
