Reverend Kenneth John Mangold, 44, of Metamora passed away at 12:30 am on Friday, September 26, 2014. He was born on November 19, 1969 in Peoria to Richard and Roberta Jean "BJ" (Laurie) Mangold. He married Lisa A. Vollrath on May 20, 1989 in Eureka. She survives. Also surviving are his children Alyssa, John and Aleena Mangold; brothers Richard (Tammy) Mangold of Columbia, MO and Dennis Mangold of Fayetteville, AR; father-in-law James Vollrath; and mother-in-law Carol (Flesner) Hayse. He was preceded in death by grandparents Kenneth and Alice Mangold and John and Mary Laurie, sister-in-law Janet Mangold, and cousins Gina Dobbelaire and Morgan Ciota. Ken was a 1987 graduate of Metamora Township High School, 1991 graduate of Western Illinois University, and 1998 graduate of Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. He served in the Air National Guard from 1986 to 1990. Ken was a faithful servant of the Lord serving the LCMS Board for Mission Services ? Almaty Kazakstan, St. John Lutheran Church, Townsend, WI, St. John Lutheran Church, Washburn, and Trinity Lutheran Church, LaRose. Ken and Lisa were married for 25 years. Ken was a faithful husband, father and friend to many. He was a great teacher, pastor and mentor. He served others until the very end. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church, Washburn with Reverend Joe Burns officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, LaRose. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church, Washburn or to a charity of the donor?s choice.
