Obituary

Kenneth J. Bergman, 66, of Peoria, Illinois, formerly of Washington, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at his residence.

He was born in Peoria to Herbert and Frances McGowan Bergman, Sr., and was the youngest of seven children. His brothers affectionately called him “Beaver,” inspired by the freckled-faced kid from Leave It to Beaver. He always knew how to keep his family smiling and entertained!

Ken graduated from Washington Community High School, where he played football. He admired the Chicago Bears and the St. Louis Cardinals. As a passionate music lover, Kenny loved singing and playing guitar in various local bands. Throughout most of his life, he worked as a construction laborer, including many years at his father’s company, Bergman Builders.

Surviving siblings include Alice (Steven, deceased) Nieukirk, Larry (Carol) Bergman, Carol (Jim) Gee, and Joyce (James, deceased) Bergman-Taylor. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gregory James and Herbert John, Jr.

Cremation has been accorded. His remains will be buried with his brothers at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. His family will privately celebrate his life. The family suggests memorial donations to a local food pantry. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington will handle the cremation arrangements.
