WASHINGTON...Kathryn L. Turnbull, 75, of Washington, passed away at 12:15 p.m., Monday, April 15, 2013 at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lacon. Kathryn was born on August 7, 1937 in Witt, Illinois to Andy and Mabel Popovitch Shemeline. She married Dixon Turnbull in Witt on February 13, 1960, Dixon survives. Also surviving are three sons, John (Crystal) Turnbull, Richard Turnbull and Scott (Lindsay) Turnbull, all of Washington; two daughters, Stephanie (Jeff) Gilkerson of Lacon and Sherri Turnbull of Morton; one brother, Andy Shemeline of Witt; two sisters, Josephine "Sandy" (Bill) Sloan of Hillsborough, Illinois and Marie Holmes of Tomahawk, Wisconsin and nine grandchildren, Jessika, John, Jack and Harlow Turnbull, Jeffery, Wilson, Elijah and Sophia Gilkerson and Tyler Presley. She was preceded in death by one son, Michael who died in 1984 one brother and four sisters. Katy owned and operated Katy T?s in Washington from 1993 to 2003. She was a 1955 graduate of Witt High School. Katy loved spending time with her family and kids and helping take care of family as needed. In her spare time, Katy loved playing pool and bowling and she had been active in leagues in Washington for many years. A funeral mass for Katy will be held on Thursday at 11 am at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Washington with Father John Steffen officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church. In keeping with Katy?s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the mass. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home for Katy. Memorials for Katy may be directed to St. Joseph Nursing Home.
