Kathleen Golden

Kathleen E. Golden 72, of Secor, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Carle BroMenn Health Center in Bloomington, IL.

She was born on April 22, 1953, in Nashville, TN, the daughter of Floyd and Mary Carroll Cook Adams. She married Scott Golden on August 16, 1986, in Hendersonville, TN.

Surviving are her husband of Secor, her children Tom (Sara) Strickert, Stacy (Rick) Sims, Becky (Mike) Jackson, Andy (Teri) Strickert, Amanda Strickert; and Matt Golden, three brothers, Mike (Whit) Adams, David (Joyce) Adams, and John (Brenda) Adams.

Also surviving are 12 grandchildren: Max, Lailah, Maggie, Kieran, Quinn, Jack, Lauren, James, Reagan, Teddy, Shaun, and Jude. Her parents, one sister, Carroll Adams Winchester, and one brother, Floyd "Spike" Adams, preceded her in death.

In addition to the full-time task of raising six children, Kathy was employed at GATX in Normal, IL, before retiring in 1999. A passionate advocate for social justice, she was the union official helping organize UAW Local 2488 at GATX. Throughout her life, Kathy was a staunch defender of civil rights, human rights, and environmental integrity, remaining politically active and tirelessly championing causes close to her heart.

Her commitment to animal welfare reflected her deep compassion for all living beings. Kathy was especially fond of her horses, cats, dogs, and chickens finding joy and companionship in their presence. Her enduring passion for the Earth and its creatures illuminated her life and inspired those around her.

A visitation will be on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 4 pm until 6 pm at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. There will be no service. Following her visitation, cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials in her name may be given to the ACLU or to the ARK in Lacon, IL.
