December 24, 1944 — December 4, 2020

Karunakaran Davis, 75, of Cazenovia, IL, passed away at 2:54 am on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Unity Point Health-Methodist in Peoria. He was born on December 24, 1944 in Madras, India to G. A. and Ruth Davis. He married Marilyn J. Martin on February 5, 1977 in Roanoke, IL.

Surviving are his wife Marilyn of Cazenovia; sons Josh Davis of Cazenovia, IL and Jonah (Jennifer) Davis of Eureka, IL; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Christina Joy Davis, three sisters, and four brothers.

Karuna grew up in India. He was a talented track and field athlete there and held many long standing records in both the 100 meter and long jump competitions. In February of 1973, he immigrated to the United States where he attended Concordia University before transferring to ISU in Bloomington while working as a lab technician at Hopedale Hospital. It is there that he met his wife of 42 years. In 1986 he founded D&M Labs, a company that fabricates custom designed shoe inserts for the orthopedic field used to treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries. He eventually expanded his business and moved to Cazenovia, IL until his retirement in 2006.

After retirement he and his wife committed their time to Choice Books Midwest where they were active until his death. He enjoyed spending time at Five Points Health and Community Center where he worked out and played racquetball. He and his wife enjoyed spending time in Sarasota, Florida each winter. His favorite activities in Florida were walking in the morning and interacting with members of the community, most of which knew him well. He was a spiritual man and actively involved in his church.

Karuna was deeply devoted to his family, extended family in the US and India and a long list of friends. His warm smile and friendly personality will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Private family services will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with Randy Ulrich officiating. Burial will be in Roanoke Mennonite Cemetery. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
