Karen Sue Boyer

Karen Sue Boyer, 67, of Germantown Hills, IL, passed away at 9:49 am on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at her residence.

She was born on June 5, 1959, in Ottawa, IL, to Harold and Jody (Anderson) Boe. She married Donald E. Boyer on November 3, 2002, in Ottawa, IL.

Surviving are her husband, Don of Germantown Hills; daughter, Samantha (Joseph) Buckner of Washington, IL; son, Rocky (Cheyenne) Boyer of Metamora, IL; grandchildren, Eli, Olivia, and Wyatt Boyer; and siblings, Gary (Patty) Boe of Ottawa, IL, Glenda (Roger) Krug of Ottawa, IL, Jo (Bob) Kistenfeger of Mt. Zion, IL, and Kent Boe of Marseilles, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Debbie Boe, and great-nephew Brayden Anderson.

Karen worked in sales for Wieland Healthcare until her retirement in February 2022. Prior to going into sales, Karen earned her cosmetology license and was a hair stylist for two years. She also began the tradition of giving the first hair cut to two generations of nieces and nephews and her oldest grandchildren.

Karen enjoyed spending time with her family more than anything and was one to always enjoy hosting a party. She loved to create stationery and decorations and everything she created was beautiful.

Karen was not a fan of sports herself, but she loved the players and volunteered for the East Peoria JFL board for six years from 2003-2008 and served as the team mom. She would travel in and out of state to watch her son’s sports as he was growing up and also catch games and concerts performed by her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren as the next generation grew.

She was a member of Willow Hill United Methodist Church and a vacation bible school volunteer. Karen enjoyed going to the movies, playing board games, and anything that gave her quality family time with her loved ones. She was one to always make others feel special whether it was a holiday or just a regular day in the week. She will be incredibly missed.
