Karen L. (Bienemann) Springer

Karen L. Springer, 78, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 6:02 pm on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora.

She was born on October 22, 1946, in Peoria, IL, to Stanley and Dorothy (Heck) Bienemann. She married Eugene J. "Gene" Springer on April 8, 1967 in Metamora.

Surviving are her husband, Gene of Metamora; three children, Jill (Keith) Miller of Metamora, Janeen (Paul) Zaio of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Jason (Natalie) Springer of Metamora; four grandchildren, Alexis (Jesse Hawk) Eberle, Dominic Zaio, Drew Zaio, and Holly Springer; two step-grandchildren, Jordan (Jackie) Miller and Shelby (Chance) Bukowski; one step-great-grandchild, Ryker Bukowski; and three sisters, Verla Monge of Manassas, VA, Kay Lestina of Tinley Park, IL, and Sharon Schrock of Metamora. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Karen graduated from Metamora Township High School and attended Illinois Central College and Bradley University. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Metamora and volunteered at St. Mary's School for many years, especially in the library, and set up for the Altar and Rosary Society dinners. All the kids loved her! She attended all of her children and grandchildren's school events. She never knew a stranger and was known for her quick wit, wisdom, and humor. She loved little kids and always smiled when she spoke to them with love and respect and they always smiled back.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 28, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father David Kipfer officiating and Father Paul Meismer assisting. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 8:45 am with visitation to follow from 9:00 am until mass time, also on Monday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mary's School, 400 West Chatham Street, Metamora, IL 61548 or to Sisters of St. Francis of the Immaculate Conception, 2408 West Heading Avenue, West Peoria, IL 61604.
