June L. Mitchell

WASHINGTON...June L. Mitchell, 77, of Washington, passed away at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Heartland Health Care Center in Peoria with her family by her side. June was born on July 4, 1934 in Macomb, Illinois to John and Luella Fuqua Huntley. She married Thomas M. Mitchell on July 1, 1952 in Macomb. Tom died on October 23, 1977 in Washington. Among those surviving are six children, Terry (Charles) Chandler, Karen Mitchell, Thomas (Toni) Mitchell, II, Lorie Mitchell and Dennis "Boomer" Mitchell all of Washington and Golda (John) Beckett of Topeka, Illinois; one foster brother, Charles Kohler of Smithville, Illinois; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren along with her longtime companion and pet "Honey". She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Pat Tribbett and Delores Custer; one brother, Jack Huntley; one grandson and one great grandson. June was an avid Cubs fan. She enjoyed collecting beany babies and cabbage patch dolls. June enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and listening to Elvis. She will be remembered as always being the loving mother, grandmother and aunt to all the family. She had attended Sunnyland Church of the Nazarene. Funeral services for June will be held on Saturday at noon at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Randy Lingerfelter officiating. Burial will follow in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
