June E. Ahrens, 91, of Eureka, IL, formerly of Metamora, IL, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.
June Eileen Ioerger was born on June 4, 1934, in Metamora, IL, the daughter of Walter and Ruby (Fletcher) Ioerger. She attended Metamora schools before graduating in 1952. After high school, she began working in the office of Dr. Riggert where she worked until she had children. She married Kenneth Ahrens in Washington, IL on December 6, 1953. They enjoyed 38 years together before he tragically lost his life in 1991.
June is survived by two sons, Steve (Monica) Ahrens, Terry (Lisa) Ahrens both of Metamora, and two daughters, Deb (Jim) Houch of Eureka and Sandi (Randy) Toepke of Metamora. June treasured her eight grandchildren, Jeff (Kristen) Houch, Justin (Jennifer) Houch, Tara (Dan) Ballard, Stephanie Toepke, Travis (Taylor) Ahrens, Trent (Grace) Ahrens, Brooke (Mitchell) Nguyen, and Luke Ahrens. She also has ten great-grandchildren that she adored, Gabe, Colton, Charlie, Nora, Benjamin, Emmerson, Marlowe, Elias, Theodore, and Tatum, who all loved their Great-grandma June. June was preceded in death by her parents and brother Duane Ioerger.
June was a partner in all her husband’s endeavors throughout their married years. For many years they farmed while pursuing other interests. In 1973 she and Kenny opened German Hills Realty in Germantown Hills after both getting their real estate license. They developed many area subdivisions in the Metamora and Germantown Hills area. June loved her career and enjoyed working with many families over the years to help them find their forever home. Eventually they sold the company to Jim Maloof Realty and she continued to sell for that company until her retirement.
June was a very giving person of her time and talents. She volunteered at Snyder Village, Meals on Wheels, Reclaimed Resale, The Woodford County Health Department, The Metamora High School Sports Booster Club, and the Woodford County election board. Much of her life centered around her church, Metamora Christian Union. She taught Sunday School, Bible School, served on the Church Council and was a member of Philathea, a woman’s organization in the church.
She organized meals for members in need and was willing to do whatever was needed when asked. June had a very giving heart and there was nothing that she wouldn’t do for anyone. Once you met her, you were her friend forever.
Family was her greatest joy. She loved going to her grandkids activities and never missed a chance to attend a family get together.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Christian home for all the love and care they gave their mother.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Christian Union Church with Pastor Gary Salm officiating.
