Obituary

Judith Ann Holderness, 82, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026. She was born on January 18, 1944, in Peoria, Illinois, to Lawrence Houlihan and Gladys (Nicholson) Houlihan.

Judy married the love of her life, William Charles Holderness, on March 3, 1963. They shared 49 years of marriage before Bill’s passing in 2012.

During her working years, Judy was employed by Bill Maher Drugs, Don’s Pharmacy, and Methodist Hospital. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who took great pride in her family.

Judy enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved gardening, camping, and fishing, and especially enjoyed attending her children’s and family members’ sporting events. Supporting her family and watching them participate in activities they loved brought her great joy.

She is survived by her sons, William “Butch” Charles Holderness of Sunnyland, Illinois, and James Holderness of Sobieski, Wisconsin.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Donovan Holderness, Eli Holderness, Spencer Holderness, and Reid Holderness, all of Sobieski, Wisconsin; Andrew Holderness and his wife, Morgan Holderness, of Metamora, Illinois; and Conner Holderness and his wife, Rebekah Holderness, of Washington, Illinois. Her beloved great-grandchildren include Monroe (Rosie), Ryder, and Lawrence.

Judy is also survived by her sisters, Jackie Houlihan Fuller (David) and Terri Houlihan McKimson (Rodney), both of Tremont, Illinois, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Charles Holderness; her son, Christopher Lawrence “Chris” Holderness; and her daughter-in-law, Gena (Frye) Holderness.

Judy will be remembered for her deep love of family and the special place she held in the lives of all who knew and loved her. She cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her family will carry those memories with them always.

Her family and friends will always remember her with love and hold her close in their hearts. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

At the request of Judy, cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service is scheduled for 3 pm on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Fondulac Township Cemetery in East Peoria. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington has been entrusted with arrangements.
