Joyce M. Bishel

Joyce M. Bishel age 83 of Spring Bay, Illinois passed away at 11:20pm Tuesday August 9, 2011 at Snyder Village in Metamora, IL. She was born May 26, 1928 in Watseka, IL to Arthur C. and Matie L. (Cady) Dixon. She married Melvin R. Bishel March 27, 1948 in Spring Bay. He passed away March 29, 2007. Surviving are her children; Betty (Jim) McCarty of Spring Bay, Peggy (Dennis) Heck of Low Point, Jerry Bishel (Fiance? Donna) of E. Peoria, Donald Bishel of Spring Bay, Ruth Greer of E. Peoria, and a son-in-law Jimmie Kendall of Bay View Gardens. Joyce is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and one sister Eva Kirchgessner of Sunnyland. She was preceded in death by 2 daughters Judy Bishel,and Becky Kendall; 2 great grandsons Brant McCaw, and Nathan Hessing; son-in-law Greg Greer and two sisters Mary Guppy, and Alice Danz. Joyce and Betty Schmitt were proud of being Shuffle Board champs of Spring Bay American Legion Post #1115. She worked as a cook at the Midway Duck Inn in Lacon for 25 years, enjoyed flowers, garage sales, and her grandchildren. She was of the Methodist Faith. Joyce?s family with deep appreciation wants to thank the staff of hall 4 at Snyder Village for the tender loving care that Joyce received at Snyder Village. Funeral services will be at 7pm Friday August 12, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel with Rev. Dr. Joe Richard officiating. Visitation will be from 5pm until service time at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded after services.
